Lotus Eye Hospital

Overview

The DNB programme of Lotus eye hospital and Institute is conducted and managed under Lotus Vision Research Trust (LVRT). LVRT was started by Dr. S. K. Sundaramoorthy as a free eye care unit, which conducts free eye camps all over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The team of postgraduates, optometrists and nurses reach the nook and corner of the rural areas to provide excellent community eye care. Postgraduates get excellent hands on clinical training and experience. The DNB programme at our center has been established more than 15 years ago; since then, the research center has successfully trained more than 100 postgraduates. Our Alumni are found to have state of art ophthalmic practice across the country.

Programme Features

Clinical Training

OPD – Basics of Refraction, Slit lamp examination, complete clinical workups. Indirect ophthalmoscopy, IOP measurement, gonioscopy and handling all ophthalmic instruments.
OT Postings – On rotation basis in all seven centers and exposure to presurgical, and surgical workup and postoperative care. Stepwise surgical exposure under the supervision of expert consultant surgeons is ensured and made sure they perform independent surgeries once well trained

Academics

Regular weekly classes with case presentations and extensive lectures by skilled ophthalmologists
Periodic examinations
Compulsory 80% attendance to be ensured
DNB students are encouraged to present papers at State & National conferences and publish papers in peer-reviewed journals

NBE conducts the annual appraisal for all the candidates (theory & Practical) as per NBE Guidelines.
